During our 2024 training workshop in Woliso, we had a farmers’ track and a professional track. The photo of local farmers attending a presentation shows the new setup. A track for farmers-only greatly facilitated dialogue between our staff and the farmers regarding their felt needs. One that was expressed was their desire to see a training program developed for their children that focused on modern agricultural techniques that would help keep their children on the farm. As is the case in many countries, the farm population in Ethiopia is aging, and incentives are needed to encourage younger people to consider farming as a career choice. Women are often primary tillers of the land and two women received their certificates of attendance at the close of our training workshop in Woliso.
